CSF is a clear, colorless liquid that plays a vital role in protecting the brain and spinal cord. It acts as a cushion, absorbing impacts and safeguarding these delicate tissues. Additionally, CSF helps regulate pressure within the skull and removes waste products from the brain. Normally, CSF is produced by structures within the brain, circulates through the ventricles and surrounding spaces, and eventually gets reabsorbed into the bloodstream.
